Nine Greek Islands are among the Top 20 Most Popular European Islands for British travelers who choose to travel in the fall for their vacation, according to a recent survey released by vacation rental platform Holidu. To create the ranking, the average August 2023 Google search queries by users in the UK were gathered for the 1,946 islands in Europe. In the case of islands having the same number of searches, the number of posts under the respective hashtag (e.g. #tenerife) on Instagram was used to prioritize a particular entry. According to the survey, Santorini is the highest Greek entry on the list, ranking 4th with 110,000 searches and 7,796,734 Instagram hashtags. Hailed for its unforgettable sunsets, unique architecture, historical sites and local cuisine, the island has a particular reputation for offering “exclusive and luxurious holidays,” Holidu researchers underlined. The next Greek islands on the top 20 list are Crete (13th), Mykonos (14th), Kefalonia (15th), Kos (18th), Zakynthos (19th) and Skiathos (20th). Overall, Greece managed the most entries with 9/20, followed by Spain with seven entries. Spain’s Tenerife topped the list, followed by Lanzarote and Majorca.
