Kerameikos was known in ancient times as a district of potters and sculptors who obtained clay from the clay deposits of the Eridanos river. Later, in the 18th and 19th centuries, the area was inhabited by craftsmen of various arts, and became best known for the Silk Processing Factory (“Metaxourgeio” in Greek), which operated in the neighborhood under the same name, for many years. Inspired by the area’s rich history as a center of arts and crafts, the hotel features 11 rooms and suites, each decorated with handcrafted ceramic tableware and unique embroidered linens. The breakfast lounge, which features ceramic plates and glasses, offers a healthy breakfast menu prepared daily on the spot with hot and cold dishes by the hotel’s chef. LOOM Athens’ three loft suites boast skylights and can accommodate two to five people, while its two ground floor rooms have a small private garden. All rooms are furnished with wooden furniture and textiles made from natural materials, with colors such as the Minoan civilization characteristic “blue/lilac” and “terracotta“, innovatively combined with fresh shades of pink, blue and purple. Located just 5 minutes from the Kerameikos metro station, the hotel makes it easy to explore the surrounding area, which is home to the Kerameikos archaeological site, the Plaka district, and the Acropolis. The hotel’s owners are a group of architects, interior designers, and engineers who are passionate about creating a space that celebrates the arts and crafts of Athens. They hope that LOOM Athens will become a “place of inspiration, design, and serenity” for guests from all over the world. LOOM Athens facade. Photo source: LOOM Athens.LOOM Athens facade.
