The historic Alkyon Hotel on the Greek island of Skiathos is once again open for guests to enjoy.

Following flooding damage caused by Storm Daniel last week, the hotel’s dedicated team worked to safely reopen the hotel and carry out repairs.

According to the hotel’s management, in less than 100 hours, over 2,000 cubic meters of water were pumped out of the basement and the engine room of the unit was completely rebuilt, as all electrical/mechanical equipment was destroyed. All common areas and rooms were cleaned and put back into operation.

Alkyon’s management held a blessing ceremony on occasion of the hotel’s reopening.

Recognizing the ethos and high level of professionalism of its employees, the hotel’s management announced that a bonus of 500 euros would be issued to all staff members as a reward for performing “a small miracle” and helping reopen the hotel so fast.

A similar bonus will be given to staff members of the group’s second hotel Skiathos Palace at the end of the season.

According to management, both hotels will remain in operation until the end of the tourism season.

Storm Daniel last week brought devastating floods to western and central Greece. Skiathos was among the destinations to be severely affected by heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
