Cyprus Tourism Professionals to ‘Connect’ with Imathia, Central Macedonia

Cyprus and Greece are set to strengthen their tourism ties as the Regional Unit of Imathia, part of the Central Macedonia Region, will take center stage at the upcoming “Connect in Cyprus” event.

Organized by the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB), the event, scheduled for Tuesday, September 26, in Nicosia, Cyprus, aims to dynamically promote Imathia’s tourism offerings to the Cypriot market.

With the picturesque backdrop of Imathia, attendees can anticipate a comprehensive showcase of the area’s natural and cultural environment, rich gastronomy, and many attractive and exciting travel products and experiences.

The decision to target the Cypriot market was based on meticulous analysis of key data points, including arrivals at Thessaloniki’s Makedonia Airport, serving the entire Central Macedonia region, and overnight stays in the area. Moreover, the year-round direct flights connecting Thessaloniki to Cyprus enhance accessibility, further solidifying the position of Cyprus as one of the vital inbound tourism markets for Thessaloniki and the broader area.

Notably, Cypriot tourists exhibit a keen interest in two thematic tourism sectors: religious tourism and wine tourism. Imathia boasts well-developed offerings in these areas, aligning seamlessly with the preferences of Cypriot visitors.

The “Connect in Cyprus” event will take place at the Hilton Nicosia hotel, nestled in the heart of Nicosia’s busy business center. The event’s program is set to feature an esteemed lineup of speakers from Imathia, TCB and other local government and tourism stakeholders.

Following the presentations, a  dinner featuring local products and wines from Imathia will provide the perfect setting for networking and building relationships between executives and representatives of Imathia and the broader Central Macedonia area, and Cyprus.

Imathia is located in the northern part of Greece. It is home to a number of important archaeological sites, including the ancient city of Aiges, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

It is considered a popular destination for both Greek and international tourists, who are drawn to the region’s natural beauty, its cultural heritage, and unique food and wine.
