According to an announcement by TIF-HELEXPO, Greece’s national exhibition organizer, the distinction will place Germany at the forefront of the event, showcasing its diverse portfolio under the “made in Germany” brand across a sprawling 6,000 square meters in Pavilion 13 of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Center. A German delegation, led by Sibylla Bendig, Consul General of Germany in Thessaloniki, recently convened with the leadership of TIF-HELEXPO to outline their plans for this future showcase. The German presence at next year’s TIF will exemplify the nation’s prowess in innovation and technology, spanning fields such as renewable energy, mobility, and digitalization. Beyond these sectors, a robust program of theme days, educational events, networking sessions, and company presentations will further enhance the exhibition. A cultural program within the city will also complement Germany’s participation as the Guest of Honor at the 88th TIF. The recent meeting in Thessaloniki served as a platform for both sides to synchronize their efforts, emphasizing a commitment to flawless execution. Discussions focused on organizational aspects and strategies to effectively promote and inform German and Greek companies about Germany’s role as the Honored Country. According to TIF-Helexpo, the designation presents a unique opportunity to foster stronger Greek-German political, economic, and business relations. Photo source: TIF-Helexpo. The German delegation in Thessaloniki comprised officials from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Rural Development, and representatives from Leipzig Fair Organization (Leipziger Messe International), responsible for the construction and preparation of the German pavilion. Furthermore, the German Embassy in Athens, the German Consulate in Thessaloniki, and architectural firm gtp2 architekten, involved in constructing the pavilion, were also part of the delegation. On the Greek side, the meeting was attended by top management and executives of TIF-HELEXPO, along with representatives from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is worth noting that Germany’s participation as an Honorary Country at the TIF was initially slated for 2020 but had to be postponed due to the pandemic. The collaboration between Greece and Germany promises to be a highlight of the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair, underlining the relationship between the two countries and their shared commitment to innovation, technology, and cultural exchange.
