Photo source: GNTO. Greece and Thailand recently explored ways to boost their longstanding tourism partnership, according to an announcement by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). The organization’s president, Angela Gerekou, held a working meeting at the GNTO’s headquarters in Athens with the Director General of the European Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Asi Mamanee, and the Ambassador of Thailand to Greece, Sathana Kashemsanta Na Ayudhya, and discussed furture collaborations. The main agenda of the meeting centered around the existing Memorandum of Understanding and Tourism Cooperation, an agreement that binds the two nations in their shared pursuit of advancing tourism. Central to the talks was the shared vision of fostering sustainable tourism practices and strengthening tourist flows between the two countries. Greece and Thailand’s commitment to sustainable tourism practices is not only timely but indicative of their dedication to mitigating the environmental impact of the industry. According to the GNTO, as the two countries continue to navigate the complexities of the tourism landscape, their collaboration remains a beacon of hope for a more sustainable and prosperous future for the industry. The meeting was also attended by Myronas Flouris, the Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development of the Tourism Ministry; Sofia Lazaridou, GNTO’s Director General; and Angela Varela, GNTO’s Director of Domestic and Foreign Services, who offered their expertise to issues discussed. A delegation from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thai Embassy in Greece also participated, underscoring the high regard both countries hold for their tourism ties.
