British newspaper The Sun recently put Milos in the spotlight, referring to the Greek island as the “ultimate autumn getaway for British travelers seeking a break of sun, sea, and sand”.

Highlighting that Milos was crowned the “best island in the world” by Travel + Leisure in 2021, travel writer Ryan Gray paints a vivid picture of the island through his article.

Travel + Leisure’s quest for “Instagram-perfect destinations that travelers fantasize about” led them to this hidden gem, celebrated for its “dreamy, sun-drenched landscapes surrounded by the bluest waters,” according to Gray.

The island’s claim to fame lies in its pristine beaches, hailed as some of the cleanest in the Greek archipelago.

Gray applauds Milos for its “friendly locals who welcome visitors to explore the quaint villages,” a sentiment echoed by Tiktoker Kristian Gaupset, who described his visit as “one of the most amazing days of my life.” Gaupset’s viral video showcases the “clearest water in the world,” which he claims “literally glows blue.”

For travelers seeking a diverse beach experience, Milos delivers with its beaches that vary in color and composition, whether they’re formed from shells, stones, or sand. TripAdvisor’s top 20 attractions on the island include 16 remarkable beaches such as Kleftiko Beach, Sarakiniko Beach, Plathiena Beach, Firiplaka Beach, and Firopotamos Beach.

Beyond its stunning shores, Milos boasts historic sites like the ancient Roman theater in the village of Tripiti. This well-preserved open-air marble theater offers panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and Kilma village’s charming harbor. Additionally, the Milos catacombs, considered among the world’s three most important catacombs, serve as a testament to the island’s rich history.

Milos, which is only a four-hour flight from the UK, offers a unique blend of warm weather and unique landscapes.

Even as autumn descends, Milos maintains its warm embrace, with average highs of 26°C in September, tapering slightly to 22°C in October. This ideal climate, combined with Milos’ natural beauty and welcoming atmosphere, makes it a top pick for travelers seeking a memorable autumn escape.
