Marketing Greece and Ikos Resorts have joined forces to support the sustainable tourism development of Corfu, with a special focus on the island’s cultural heritage.

The partnership aims to offer visitors a better understanding of the destination through original audio content.

Available to the island’s tourism professionals, the audio content includes three travel podcasts and a self-guided walking tour, all available in Greek, English and German.

The audio content was presented by Marketing Greece General Manager Nikos Diamantopoulos during an event held at the Museum of Asian Art on Corfu and attended by local government representatives and tourism stakeholders.

The podcasts cover topics such as:

  • Corfu & the artistic movement of the Ionian School
  • The Fascinating History of the Old Fortress of Corfu
  • The unexpected Museum of Asian Art in Corfu

The self-guided walking tour offers an immersive journey through Corfu’s historic old town, encompassing 27 points of interest. Visitors can explore these landmarks while listening to unique stories behind each attraction. This experience unveils the lesser-known cultural treasures of the island, introduces local shops, customs, and traditions, and narrates the history of prominent personalities associated with Corfu. The tour is hosted on the Clio Muse Tours platform.

During the event, Marketing Greece President Ioanna Dretta emphasized the collaborative effort’s significance highlighting that it can further “contribute to the essential link with culture, the improvement of travelers’ experience, and ultimately to the competitiveness of Corfu’s tourism product.”

On his part, Sani/Ikos Group Chief Sales Manager Antonis Avdelas underlined the imperative role of sustainability in the future of tourism.

“Our partnership with Marketing Greece to promote Corfu as a sustainable tourism destination is exactly in this direction and the campaign prepared is available free of charge to every tourism professional, local government and local agencies,” he said.

Marketing Greece and Ikos Resorts invite travelers to listen to the podcasts and embark on a journey to Corfu’s history and culture, this way enriching their visit to the popular Greek island.

The podcasts are available here.
