In a strategic move to enhance connectivity and convenience for travelers, Emirates and SriLankan Airlines recently signed a reciprocal interline agreement that will enable access to new points on each other’s networks

This collaboration will allow passengers to enjoy a seamless travel experience while benefiting from a single ticket purchase and hassle-free baggage transfers.

According to the airlines’ announcement, Emirates travelers can book tickets to explore 15 regional destinations operated by SriLankan Airlines through Colombo, effective immediately.

The enhanced interline network introduces two new Indian destinations, Madurai and Tiruchirapally, along with Gan Island in the Maldives, providing Emirates’ passengers with more options to explore. The network further extends to include Far East and South Asian cities such as Cochin, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Malé, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Guangzhou, Seoul, and Tokyo.

“We look forward to further developing our cooperation in the near future and enhancing benefits that customers can enjoy when traveling with Emirates and SriLankan on one ticket,” said Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim.

On his part, Richard Nuttall, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, noted that the partnership provides more options to connect to and from Sri Lanka, assisting both Sri Lankan passengers at home and abroad, and supports tourism growth to the Pearl of the Indian Ocean.”

The interline agreement will also see SriLankan Airlines passengers gain access to Emirates’ extensive global network, connecting them to 15 cities operated by Emirates beyond Dubai. These destinations span across the Middle East, Africa, Russia, and the United States, and cities like Bahrain, Amman, Dammam, Medina, Cairo, Muscat, Nairobi, Moscow, Tel Aviv, New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, and Houston.

For travelers flying to destinations in the United States on Emirates and SriLankan interline tickets, it’s important to note that they must clear their baggage with US Customs at the first point of entry in the country.

From its global hub in Dubai, Emirates serves customers on six continents, providing high quality air transport services that facilitate tourism and trade.

A member of the oneworld alliance, SriLankan Airlines’ hub is located at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. The airline provides convenient connections to its network of 109 destinations in 56 countries around the world.
