Greece remains a top choice for Austrian tourists in 2023, with autumn bookings for travel to the country going strong, according to the Austrian branch of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). The organization’s Austrian branch made the announcement after receiving feedback from travel agents and Austrian Airlines representatives that participated in a fam trip held September 19-24 to the Western Peloponnese. The “On the road to Olympia” fam trip, organized by the GNTO’s Austrian branch and TUI Austria, was attended by 80 representatives of leading travel agencies from Austria and Slovakia, making it the largest TUI Austria trip in terms of participants since the pandemic. “The number of participants highlights the leading role Greece plays in the Austrian market,” the GNTO said. The fam trip included two days of workshop sessions, during which the organizers and their local partners presented the destination’s products and services. During the workshops, the GNTO Austrian branch presented the tourism opportunities of the Peloponnese, which center around sustainable tourism development. The fam trip’s program also included an introduction to the region’s tourism facilities, a tour of ancient Olympia and its museum, and a sea tour of the western coast of the Peloponnese. The trip concluded with an “Olympiad” of knowledge about Greece and the world. Representatives of leading travel agencies from Austria and Slovakia during the fam tip. Photo source: GNTO.
