Winner of ‘Elafonisos Through Your Eyes’ Photo Competition Announced

The Elafonisos Municipality on Tuesday announced the winner of its “Elafonisos through your eyes” photography competition.

Launched in July, the competition aimed to showcase the island’s unique beauty through the eyes of its visitors.

Following an evaluation process, the competition’s judging committee announced the photo of Vassilios Tziavas, which captured the colors of nature at sunset, as the winning photo (right).

With a plethora of picturesque landscapes, Elafonisos has always been a magnet for nature enthusiasts and photographers.

According to Elafonissos Mayor Efi Liarou, the competition successfully motivated visitors to encapsulate their admiration for the island’s natural wonders through the art of photography.

“The selection was difficult because all submitted photos were remarkable and our jury had a hard time choosing the winner,” the mayor said, thanking all of the competition’s participants.

The winning photograph by Vassilios Tziavas will be used to promote Elafonisos both in Greece and on an international level. It will feature in the municipality’s presentations, ensuring that the island’s charm reaches audiences far and wide. Additionally, the image will be distributed to the offices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) abroad, further promoting Elafonisos’ to potential tourists.

Moreover, the municipality said that the photograph will be shared with its international contacts, including journalists and bloggers, who play a “crucial role” in sharing the island’s beauty with the world.

The winner of the competition will also travel to Elafonisos and spend two days on the South Peloponnese island with all expenses covered.
