The merge follows a partnership between the two companies in 2020. As the merge marks a new chapter in the company’s history, Global Marine Travel held an event in late September to celebrate the company’s rebranding to GMT Greece. Held at the Four Seasons Astir Palace, the event was hosted by GMT Founder and Managing Director Tim Davey and the company’s general manager in Greece, Fotis Pappas, and attended by leaders of the Greek shipping industry, the company’s partner airline Qatar Airways, international maritime travel experts and colleagues. “We have completed the merger of Argo Marine Travel and Global Marine Travel and will operate going forward under one brand Global Marine Travel Greece. We look forward to supplying the shipping industry with quality marine travel management services in the future,” Davey said. An integral part of the Greek maritime legacy, the rebranding represents GMT’s continued dedication to excellence and innovation in the global shipping industry. “Shipping companies manage 90 percent of the global supply chain and it’s a tremendous responsibility despite all the geopolitics, pandemics and economic pressures but together we get the job done… GMT is proud to take on the responsibility and value our part in the global supply chain. Ship owners and operators can rely on us to always move crews from their homes and to their vessels on time and within budget,” he added. Distinguished guest speakers included Qatar Airways’ Sandro Magnetta, Sales Manager, Southern Europe. “GMT has consistently demonstrated resilience and adaptability, even in the face of global challenges. Their rebranding signifies their unwavering commitment to support the future of travel and shipping combined,” Magnetta said. Founded in Athens in 1952 by pioneers of the growing sectors of marine and crew transportation, and corporate travel and leisure travel, GMT prides on being Greece’s oldest travel management company and most distinguished marine fare consolidator.
