Photo source: Unsplash. Nine Greek islands are among the 20 best in Europe for vacations in 2023, according to the Readers’ Choice Awards of luxury travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler. The 36th edition of the prestigious awards saw more than half a million readers participating in the magazine’s annual survey, sharing what they loved and why they loved it during their year in travel. On a country level, Greece came in 3rd best to visit worldwide while 9 Greek islands are listed in the Best islands in Europe category. The 9 best Greek islands for 2023 Rethymno, Crete. Readers chose Mykonos as the 2nd top island destination in Europe. Crete and Santorini are also in the Top 10, in the 4th and 7th places respectively. Furthermore, the top 20 list includes the islands of Sifnos (11th), Skiathos (12th), Kos (13th), Rhodes (17th), Corfu (18th), and Paros (19th). Overall Greece had the largest number of mentions on the list. Condé Nast Traveler’s readers named Victoria, Canada as the best small city in the world, while Singapore was recognized as the top big city in the world. Siena, Italy was named the friendliest city in Europe and Ireland the friendliest country in Europe. Calgary, Canada was chosen as the friendliest city in the world while Dominica was named the friendliest country in the world. San Sebastian, Spain won the best city in the world for food title. Moreover, Singapore Airlines was named the best international airlines globally and Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) the best airport in the world.
