Metaxa Hospitality Group member Creta Maris Resort located in Hersonissos on Crete recently conducted its annual fire drill successfully.

The hotel’s “Annual Crisis Preparedness Exercise in a Tourism Destination” for 2023 was focused on the thorough training and preparation of staff members in the event of a fire.

“In an era of multiple crises and challenges, when the consequences of climate change are now evident, it is very important to be properly prepared for the protection, first of all, of human life, the well-being of the destination where we live and operate, but also of tourism in general our country,” said Metaxa Hospitality Group Managing Director Andreas Metaxas.

The successful fire evacuation drill at the Creta Maris Resort was carried out under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Efthymios Lekkas, professor of Dynamic Tectonic Applied Geology & Disaster Management at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens.

“For the Metaxa Hospitality Group, the safety and health of our guests and employees is a matter of highest priority and we therefore invest steadily in the continuous upgrading of the training and skills of our staff,” Metaxas said.

“We are proud that the Creta Maris Resort’s annual preparedness exercise once again took place with great success this year and has been recognized over the years by Crete’s tourism sector,” he added.

Operating since 1975, the Creta Maris Resort is a celebration of Crete’s architecture, cuisine, culture and nature. The resort has a capacity of 680 rooms and is located just 24km from the Heraklion Airport.
