More specifically, passenger traffic through Greece’s largest airport increased by 16.3 percent in September over to the same month in 2022 and by 11.8 percent compared to pre-Covid 2019, reaching 3 million arrivals. Airport insiders are expecting total arrivals to reach 26 million in 2023. International arrivals exceeded 2022 levels for the same month by 17.2 percent and 2019 figures by 9.9 percent. Domestic arrival figures surpassed last-year levels for the month by 14.6 percent to 943,924 and 2019 arrival numbers by 16.3 percent. January-September: 21.68 million passengers In the nine months to September, passenger traffic through AIA came to 21.68 million, exceeding 2022 levels by 25.7 percent and 2019 figures by 8.6 percent. International arrivals were up by 20.3 percent over the nine-month period in 2022 and by 7.3 percent against 2019. The number of domestic arrivals outdid 2022 levels for the period under review by 20.3 percent and 2019 figures by 11.3 percent. Flights In terms of flights, AIA handled 186,174 flights in the January-September period, marking a 12.9 percent increase over 2022 levels and a 5.1 percent rise on 2019. The number of international flights was up by 17.4 percent over 2022 and by 2.2 percent compared to 2019 while domestic flights increased by 7.8 percent versus 2022 and by 9.1 percent over 2019.
