Savills experts analyzed 20 destinations based on their appeal and ease of access for long-term remote workers. The destinations were ranked for their connectivity, climate, prime residential rental market and quality of life. According to the research, Athens ranked as the 17th most appealing executive nomads destination, ranking in the top 5 in the Prime Residential Rents and Air Connectivity categories. On the other hand, data showed that the Greek capital considerably lagged behind other competitors in the Internet Speed category, with its climate having taken a turn for the worse due to climate change and frequent and catastrophic wildfires breaking around the city in the last five years. Dubai, UAE, topped the index thanks primarily to the “fast-growing fintech and financial services sectors – along with a tax-free environment and high quality of life, which are proving powerful magnets for executive nomads seeking a new challenge,” as Savills representatives underline. Malaga, Spain holds the second position on the list. According to José Felix Perez-Peña, Savills head of Andalucía, “the city is the place to be for tech companies like Google, and its reputation then spreads by word of mouth.” In addition, restaurants, renting and socializing in Málaga are still cheap compared with other major European cities. Miami, Abu Dhabi and Lisbon round up the top 5. Source: Savills. Established leisure destinations also made the index’s cut, including the Algarve and Tuscany, the former being currently considered a major cultural and tourist destination. Executive nomads differ from digital nomads since they are usually more business-oriented, wealthier and “quite often have children in tow”, as Savills research notes.
