Tourism sector professionals operating businesses in the prefecture of Magnesia in the Thessaly Region, which was ravaged by flash floods last September, are calling on travelers to give local destinations a chance. The Hotel Owners’ Association of Magnesia is calling on travelers to visit the area, which is back in action with hotels in full operation. The villages of Mt Pelion and the road network is now accessible, said the association, and many businesses are open in Volos. The association goes on to underline, however, that “the state is not really supporting our effort, the people and businesses of Magnesia are struggling and only visitors can make a difference”. “Come to Volos, Pelion and Magnesia. It’s easy, safe and smart. Not only will you not miss out on anything, but you will also enjoy much more because the people and businesses know how to appreciate those who support them,” said the association in its statement. It also invites holidaymakers to reach out to the association and to local tourism professionals with any questions. “We wouldn’t be inviting you, if we weren’t sure that you would enjoy your stay in Volos, Pelion and Magnesia,” it said.
