More specifically, the government is expected to publish notices concerning projects in tourism to be covered by Greece’s recovery fund. According to the timetable, projects to be announced in the coming weeks concern infrastructure, tourist port upgrades, the improvement of accessibility at Greek beaches, and projects related to the digitization of the sector. Commenting on the news, Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni told journalists this week that the effectiveness of the funding depends on the absorption rate and management, particularly by local governments in regions and municipalities. In relevant news, the government recently said it would be announcing a new round of NSRF funding amounting to 160 million euros to be allocated to eligible parties wishing to set up and operate small and medium-sized tourism enterprises. Kefalogianni also referred to the ministry’s new strategy which will focus on sustainability, balance and the effective use of resources, adding that in the first quarter of 2024, a new spatial plan in tourism would also be ready.
