Strengthening ties in tourism as well as addressing the challenges of climate change topped the agenda of meetings between Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and officials in Monaco. Kefalogianni was on an official visit to Monaco last week where she met with Monaco Prime Minister Pierre Dartout, Prince of Monaco Albert II, and Finance & Economy Minister Marco Piccinini. Among others, Kefalogianni and Piccinini discussed areas of possible cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism, including investments, exchanging know-how, and creating synergies in order to address common challenges key of which climate change and its impact on the Mediterranean region. The Greek minister also met with Monaco officials with whom she discussed the repercussions of global warming on the environment and on Greece, particularly this summer following the fires on Rhodes and in Evros which impacted tourism. Photo source: Tourism Ministry Kefalogianni referred to efforts being made by the Greek government on national, European and international levels for environmental protection and prevention through collective efforts. The minister also met with representatives from Société des Bains de Mer, which is active in tourism infrastructure and with Greek, Monaco-based entrepreneurs with whom she discussed tourism investment issues. Kefalogianni was also received by the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who was in Monaco on an official visit.
