A new report by Hungarian airline Wizz Air recently ranked Rhodes, Greece, as the best city destination for solo travelers in 2023. To compile the report, which investigated solo travelling as a travel trend that is lately growing exponentially, Wizz Air experts investigated a list of cities across Europe based on Euromonitor’s top 100 cities in 2019, Europa’s list of culture and tourism cities, and Holidu magazine’s list of European cities with the most tourism. They then used TripAdvisor reviews to rank these cities based on their suitability for solo travelers. To do this, Wizz Air collated reviews that were tagged as ‘solo travelers’ for both restaurants and attractions in the city. The survey found that Rhodes received 76 percent of its solo-traveler reviews at 5-star. Of these, the city’s attractions received a majority of 5-star reviews (79 percent), alongside 73 percent of reviews for restaurants located within the city. Source: Wizz Air. Following Rhodes, Split, Croatia came in second with 73 percent of its solo-traveler user reviews at 5-star. Of these, the city’s attractions received a majority of 5-star reviews (81 percent), alongside 66 percent of reviews for restaurants located within Split. Faro, Portugal, Istanbul, Türkiye and Florence, Italy rounded up the top 5. “There is a lot to be said about the benefits of travelling on your own – from freedom of location to cheaper travel expenses. Of course, those choosing to go on holiday on their own want to ensure that the destinations they’re heading off to have plenty to keep them entertained, which is why we have collated a ranking of the best city destinations for solo travellers,” said Wizz Air Corporate Communications Manager Andras Rado. A fast growing European ultra-low-cost airline, Wizz Air operates a fleet of 186 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
