Occupancy levels in September at hotels in Athens and the wider Attica region are still below pre-Covid 2019 but slightly improved over 2022, according to the latest data released by the Athens-Attica & Argosaronic Hotel Association (EXAAA) in cooperation with GBR Consulting.

In the nine-month period to September, average occupancy reached 78 percent, down by 2.4 percent over the same period in 2019 but up by 14 percent over 2022.

The report’s analysts attribute strong September occupancy figures to the organization of conferences in Athens, and add that investments must be made to further develop the MICE segment of the tourism economy.

Average daily rate (ADR) in September stood at 171.35 euros, marking a 19 percent rise from 143.94 euros in the same month a year ago and from 123.67 euros in 2019 (+38.6 percent).
