The Halkidiki Tourism Organization (HTO) reached out to the UK market and collected feedback for the year ahead during its participation in the World Travel Market London 2023 last week.

More specifically, tourism to the Halkidiki peninsula in northern Greece is expected to increase in 2024 based on data collected at WTM and following HTO meetings with local tourism professionals and UK tour operators, who confirmed that pre-bookings for 2024 were already 18 percent higher than in the same period in 2022.

For 2023, tourist demand for Halkidiki was strong. Indicatively, Jet2 marked an 18% rise compared to last year and a 24 percent increase on 2019 levels. While travel and leisure giant TUI reported a 5% rise.

Among others, the HTO participated in this year’s “Sustainability Marathon” organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) UK and Ireland branch; presented best practices in collaboration with local governments; promoted its 96 Blue Flags for the exceptional quality of its beaches and its 12 Natura protected nature preserves as well as locally-produced food products.
