Overall, the Virtuoso report predicts that in 2024 the top luxury traveler trends include seeking out the unexplored and off-the-beaten track destinations; celebration travel as a top motivation in 2024; visiting destinations for their natural offerings for fear these will diminish or become inaccessible; selecting small-vessel cruising and more authentic experiences such as river cruises as well as private yacht charters; and high demand for custom trips that maximize comfort. Luxury travelers are also interested in sustainable tourism focused on wildlife conservation/interaction, followed by avoiding destinations impacted by overtourism, giving back to local communities, booking with companies that employ locals and helping conserve land and the environment. Lastly, top reason to travel, according to the report include discovering new destinations, celebrating a milestone, visiting top wish list destinations, spending time with loved ones, and for rest and relaxation.
