The port, one of the most important in Central Greece, will for the first time be accessible to small and medium-sized cruise ships, which is expected to give a significant boost to the local economy enabling shore excursions to a number of destinations, including the archaeological site of Delphi. Agios Konstantinos Port / Photo Source: Regional Government of Central Greece Works conducted in two phases at Agios Konstantinos port have so far cost 9.8 million euros and are aimed at improving coastal connectivity of the mainland with the Sporades islands. Speaking during the event, Central Greece Region Governor Fanis Spanos referred to eight more ports and fishing shelters in the region, which are currently undergoing modernization works budgeted at over 50,000,000 euros. The resort town of Agios Konstantinos is located 165km from Athens. Its port serves as the main gateway to the Sporades and North Aegean islands.
