The project was given the green light by the Greek Navy, the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and the Shipping Ministry, said Greek Water Airports. The company adds that the Bohemian Kea seaplane port will operate in parallel with the waterway planned for the island’s main port allowing for the approach of more seaplanes all year round and under all weather conditions. The company said it plans to proceed with the creation of seaplane ports on either side of island destinations in the Cyclades and Dodecanese to ensure all-weather access. According to the company, the South Aegean Region is planning to operate at least 30 seaplane ports. The first two seaplanes to operate routes once Greece’s waterway network is completed are ready and waiting for the go-ahead, according to seaplane operator Grecian Air Seaplanes, which belongs to a group of companies headed by Greek Water Airports. Govas went on to underline that seaplane ports will compliment waterways in order to provide access to more destinations.
