Some 13.6 million Brits are already booking their holidays abroad for 2024 with Greece among their Top 5 picks, found a recent survey commissioned by American Express.

According to the survey conducted by Opinium in November on a sample of 2,000 adults, travelers from the UK will be spending on average 1,756 pounds per trip and hoping to take an average two holidays next year.

Top travel destinations for 2024 for UK travelers are Spain with 15 percent of Brits planning a trip there, followed by Italy (12 percent), France (11 percent), Greece (10 percent), and the US and Canary Islands (8 percent).

Over a third (37 percent) said they had already booked to avoid disappointment from sold out flights or accommodation. The second reason (31 percent) for booking early was having something to “look forward to over the winter months”.

Of the those polled, 66 percent said they were planning a domestic holiday in 2024 with Cornwall and the Lake District as top destinations.

The main reason for travel for six in 10 respondents was relaxation, followed by good local food (43 percent) and culture (41 percent) while 31 percent of millennials are “looking for a thrill”.

Lastly, 46 percent of those polled said they want to take seaside holiday and 17 percent to go off the beaten track.
