Athens International Airport (AIA) and the This is Athens – Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) recently conducted a FAM trip to the Greek capital for a select group of travel and tourism representatives from India in collaboration with Gulf Air.

The fam trip aimed to introduce the airline’s connectivity to Athens, promote the destination to the Indian market and strengthen the tourism ties between both sides to further develop tourist flows between the two countries. The trip included ten leading travel agents specializing in the Indian FIT tourism market and in particular luxury tourism, MICE, leisure tourism and wedding events, as well as four journalists from the genre of travel and tourism media.

Commenting on the joint collaboration to promote Athens, AIA Director of Communications & Marketing Ioanna Papadopoulou said the fam trip was a result of the excellent cooperation between the airport and This is Athens – ACVB.

“This trip would not have been possible without the generous and essential assistance of Gulf Air, our valuable airline partner, to whom we are deeply grateful,” she added.

According to Papadopoulou, strengthening relations with the Indian market is among AIA’s strategic priorities.

“This year passenger traffic is recording high numbers in all of our main international geographical markets… With common goals and an expanded spirit of cooperation for the tourism future of our destination, we continue our promotional actions in the Indian market in order to bring our two destinations closer together as soon as possible,” she said.

Gulf Air connects Athens with Bahrain with 10 direct flights per week. From Bahrain, travelers from Athens can reach a significant number of destinations in India.

Gold Star Aviation is the GSA (General Sales Agent) of Gulf Air for Greece.
