Athanasios Liagkos, the executive chairman of the Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA) S.A., has been elected president of the association for a two-year mandate. Liagkos has also served as Deputy Chairman, D. Chief Executive Officer and member of the BoD of Piraeus Port Authority. He was member of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund as a coordinator of the National Strategic Plan for ports and marinas and he served as a BoD member in all Port Authorities in Greece. Photo source: ELIME According to an announcement by the association, the new Board of Directors will focus on dealing with today’s challenges concerning the port industry, including digital transformation, cyber security, sustainability, environmental protection, improvement of services and competitiveness. “Ports, as gateways to trade, are the solid pillar of the national economy,” ELIME said. “Therefore, now more than ever, there is a need to modernize port governance to create an even stronger and more competitive port system focused on safety, fast service and low cost.” ELIME’s new Board of Directors is as follows: President Athanasios Liagkos, Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA) 1st Vice President Panagiotis Tsonis, Piraeus Port Authority 2nd Vice President Apostolos Kamarinakis, Elefsina Port Authority Secretary General Sokratis Anagnostou, Volos Port Authority Treasurer Georgios Vakondios, Lavrio Port Authority Members Panagiotis Anastasopoulos (Patra Port Authority), Dimitrios Virirakis (Chania Port Office), Angelos Vlachos ( Kavala Port Authority), Spyridon Gerontitis (Evia Port Authority), Spyridon Zervopoulos (Corfu port Authority), Nikolaos Livadaras (Syros Port Authority), Theofanis Matsopoulos (Rafina port Authority), Minas Papadakis (Heraklion Port Authority), Athanasios Porfiris (Igoumenitsa Port Authority), Konstantinos Hadjikonstantinou (Alexandroupolis Port Authority) Join the 15,000+ travel executives who read our newsletter Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
