Based on official data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the report lists the passports of six countries as the world’s most powerful. These passports are those of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and Singapore which enable visa-free travel to 194 destinations out of 227 across the globe. Greece moved up the ranking to number 5 from 7th in 2022 and 2023 and 8th in 2021 and in 2020. Source: Henley & Partners The Greek passport now allows visa-free travel to 190 destinations worldwide. Source: Henley & Partners “The average number of destinations travelers are able to access visa-free has nearly doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024,” said Christian H. Kaelin, chairman of Henley & Partners. More specifically, the world’s most powerful passports this year are those of: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, Spain (194 destinations) Finland, South Korea, Sweden (193 destinations) Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands (192 destinations) Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, United Kingdom (193 destinations) Greece, Malta, Switzerland (190 destinations) Czech Republic, New Zealand, Poland (189 destinations) Canada, Hungary, United States (188 destinations) Estonia, Lithuania (187 destinations) Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia (186 destinations) Iceland (185 destinations).
