Located at Agriolefkes on Mount Pelion, the ski center opened its doors for the season in late December under new administration. “The Pelion Ski Center is the largest tourism and sport facility of Magnesia, fully organized and safe, which attracts millions of visitors and athletes,” the Region said in an announcement. The regional authority’s aim is for the ski center to act as a “frontline” for the promotion of the regional unit of Magnesia–Sporades, open all 12 months of the year and outside the ski season, offering new activities to Greek visitors and tourists. Upgrade works coming up Photo source: Region of Thessaly Looking to extend the center’s operation, according to reports, the new administration is planning to carry out upgrade works under a budget of 17.8 million euros. Works are said to include new lifts and a new ticketing system for entrance, among other things. Facilities and services The Pelion Ski Center is located at an altitude of 1,471 meters and offers a unique view of the Aegean Sea and Pagasitikos Gulf. Photo source: Region of Thessaly The center’s facilities currently include five tracks totaling 15km in length: four main ski slopes (one for beginners, one cross-country ski run, a network of connecting ski runs and a new blue slope) approved by the International Ski Federation (FIS) and one Lang-Lauf slope, 5 km long. The area includes two hotels, ski and snowboard school, ski equipment rental, first-aid, observatory, snow-camera, meteo station and three parking lots. The Pelion Ski Center operates daily between 9am- 4pm. Skiers can access the center by the Volos–Zagora national road network. The Pelion Ski Center’s new administration includes Deputy Governor of Magnesia and Sporades Anna Maria Papadimitriou (president), Konstantinos Kitsos (CEO) and Panagiotis Tsiakos (Vice President).
