The Greek island of Rhodes was once again voted as the best city for solo travelers this year, according to a recent report released by Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air. Gathering data from TripAdvisor’s reviews, Wizz Air released a list of the cities with the most 5-star reviews from self-describing solo travelers. Rhodes in Greece leads the list and is followed by the destinations of Split, Croatia; Faro, Portugal; Istanbul, Turkey; and Florence, Italy. Rhodes was named the most idyllic city destination for solo-travelers with 76 percent of them rating the island with 5-star reviews. Of these, the island’s attractions received a majority of 5-star reviews (79 percent), alongside 73 percent of reviews for its restaurants. Rhodes, Greece. Split, Croatia, ranked second best destination which saw 73 percent of its solo-traveler user reviews at 5-star. Of these, the city’s attractions received a majority of 5-star reviews (81 percent), alongside 66 percent of reviews for restaurants located within Split. Speaking about the report, Wizz Air Corporate Communications Manager Andras Rado, marked that solo travelling is the “latest travel trend” that is growing exponentially due to the freedom of choices and cheaper travel expenses. As for any other type of travel, the destination plays a vital role for solo-travelling too and requires a lot of thought to determine the best location, which combines things to do alone, safety and adventure. “One of the most reliable ways for travelers to gain information about the realities of travelling to a destination is through the experiences of other travelers that have been there before, which is why we know the importance of basing our ranking on reviews left by prior solo-travelers to ensure that these cities have the most to offer those jetting off alone,” Rado added. For the report, Wizz Air’s travel experts gathered a list of cities across Europe based on Euromonitor’s top 100 cities in 2019, Europa’s list of culture and tourism cities, and Holidu magazine’s list of European cities with the most tourism. Then, using TripAdvisor reviews, the expers ranked these cities based on their suitability for solo-travelers. Wizz Air operates a fleet of 186 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
