TEMES SA, a premier developer of premium destinations, has announced a partnership with real estate investment company, Premia Properties, and Hellenic Wineries, to further develop the Navarino Vineyards as part of the wider Costa Navarino experience.

TEMES SA is the parent company of Costa Navarino. a prime, sustainable destination and one of the largest tourism investments in the Mediterranean.

The new partnership foresees among others the creation of a state-of-the-art winery that respects the region’s winemaking tradition and the environment, as well as investments in the production and commercial development of local wines.

The aim of the project is to enhance the rich wine history of Messinia and the Peloponnese, while developing and promoting wine tourism, the companies said.

Hellenic Wineries SA, a member of the Sterner Stenhus Group, the main shareholder of Boutari Wineries, will be participating in the production and commercial exploitation of the wines produced.

Last year, the Navarino Agora, an interactive, multicultural space located inside Costa Navarino, hosted for the first time the “Messinia Terroirs Wine Festival” to promote the area’s local wines.

The agreement

Under the agreement, Premia Properties will acquire 50 percent of Navarino Wineries SA, which is currently fully owned by TEMES SA. Another company – majority-owned by Hellenic Wineries with a 25 percent stake by TEMES SA – will be responsible for leasing the vineyards and the facilities of the new winery as well as for the production and commercial development. The transaction is subject to the approval of the country’s Competition Commission.

Once completed the vineyards and new winery will have a value of approximately 10 million euros.

Through this synergy with Hellenic Wineries, who has significant expertise, we will further strengthen the potential of the Navarino Vineyards. Our common vision is to establish Messinia in the field of winemaking,” said Achilleas V. Konstantakopoulos, chairman of the Board of Directors of TEMES SA.

Also commenting on the strategic partnership, Premia Properties CEO Kostas Markazos said the investment was part of a wider plan to acquire strategic properties such as wineries and vineyards which meet sustainability criteria and strengthen Premia’s portfolio.

Lastly, Sterner Stenhus Group CEO Elias Georgiadis said the goal was to strengthen the production of high-quality Greek wine and to further develop wine tourism in Messinia.

TEMES SA belongs to the Konstantakopoulos family, a leading investor, developer and operator in the high-end tourism and real estate sectors in Greece and the company behind the multi-awarded luxury tourism resort Costa Navarino.
