Taking place in Delphi on February 8, the 1st conference on “Tourism & Development in Central Greece” will discuss enhancing the tourism sector in the Region and highlight its history, natural wealth and tradition, based on new sustainable practices. The conference will be held in the European Cultural Centre of Delphi where industry players and government officials will analyze the potential Delphi and destinations in the wider region – from Livadia to Amfissa – have to meet the demands of modern travellers. Speakers at the conference will include Fanis Spanos, Regional Governor of Central Greece; Panagiotis Tagkalis, Mayor of Delphi; Panagiota Dimopoulou; Culture Ministry Director of Tourism Policy; Aggelos Kallias, General Manager of Hellenic Hoteliers Federation; and Nikos Diamantopoulos; General Director of Marketing Greece. The main topics on the conference’s agenda will focus on the new trends in tourism development; the use of new technologies; and new financial tools. Culture tourism will also be a main topic of the conference, as, according to the organizers, Greece lags behind its competitors regarding this form of tourism. A session of the conference will also shed light on how digital marketing can be used to give the Region’s tourism and hospitality a competitive advantage; and how gastronomy can be promoted as a main travel experience. Representatives from companies such as Google, Mindhaus, Sleed, HotelBrain, will also attend and discuss the high significance of investments for the Region’s further economic development and prosperity. The Delphi Economic Forum is a nonprofit, member driven organization, committed to deliver and promote innovative ideas for sustainable and competitive growth for Europe and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
