Twelve Greek hotels in Athens, Mykonos and Santorini are on the list of honorees of the 2024 Star Awards recently announced by Forbes Travel Guide. Founded in the US in 1958 as the Mobil Guide, Forbes Travel Guide is considered the oldest travel guide in the US. Its star rating service offers a coveted certification mark to tourism related businesses across the globe. For the 66th annual list, anonymous professional inspectors checked in hotels, restaurants, spas and cruises to evaluate based on 900 of exacting standards, with an emphasis on exceptional service. It features 340 Five-Star, 600 Four-Star and 503 Recommended hotels; 78 Five-Star, 121 Four-Star and 59 Recommended restaurants; 126 Five-Star and 201 Four-Star spas; and seven Four-Star and five Recommended cruise ships. Among the twelve Greek Hotels on the list, four were honored with 5-stars, two with 4-stars and six with the recommended label. All twelve received a Luxury Badge verification. 5-Star rating Andronis Luxury Suites, Photo source: Forbes Travel Guide The Andronis Luxury Suites and the Katikies Santorini on Santorini, Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens in Athens and Katikies Mykonos on Mykonos, got the highest recognition that only 340 hotels worldwide got this year at Forbes Travel Guide’s Star Awards. Andronis Luxury Suites was distinguished by the travel guide’s inspectors for its unique dining experience, special cave-like decor and yacht tours around the island. Four Seasons Astir Palace Hotel Athens was praised for its 700-member staff, exceptional location and bathing ceremonies inspired by the Greek ancient history. Katikies Mykonos and Katikies Santorini was mentioned for their “all-white accommodations”, beautiful views and artful plates combined with romantic atmosphere. Grace Hotel, also, won the inspectors with its heated plunge pool on the terrace, while Santorini Secret Suites & Spa was pointed out because of its open-air restaurant. Recommended rating Hotel Grande Bretagne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens and King George, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens in Athens and Kouros Hotel & Suites; Myconian Korali Relais & Chateaux Hotel; Myconian O, Design Hotels; and Myconian Villa Collection, Preferred Hotels & Resorts in Mykonos got the recommended badge among 503 hotels in the world. The inspector also highlighted the daily tea ceremonial at the Winter Garden City Lounge and attentive service. The King George hotelgot extra points for providing “several experiences for hotel guests, including tasting masterclasses in Hotel Grande Bretagne’s Wine Library at the GB Corner and cultural walking tours of the city”. King George, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens, Photo source: Forbes Travel Guide Kouros Hotel & Suites was singled out for its spacious suites, while Myconian Korali Relais & Chateaux Hotel, Myconian O, Design Hotels and Myconian Villa Collection, Preferred Hotels & Resorts got the recommended badge for their signature Cycladic architecture, natural aesthetic and vistas. This year’s ratings expanded into new destinations, including Baku, Azerbaijan; Curacao; Iceland; Sardinia, Italy and other. Rwanda debuts on the list with two Five-Star winners and Kenya makes its first appearance featuring animal-centric experiences. At the same time, Macau remains for the second consecutive year the city with the most Five-Star hotels. “Travel was highly anticipated to have a strong year and the new winners on our 2024 list reflect the increased efforts properties are making to deliver elevated guest experiences,” said Amanda Frasier, President of Ratings for Forbes Travel Guide.
