As part of its strategy to open up to new markets and promote the Greek capital’s tourist offer, the This is Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) participated for the first time in this year’s “Outbound Travel Market” (OTM), which took place in Mumbai, India.

Athens showcased its offerings to more than 35,000 visitors from 60 countries during OTM under the umbrella of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and the European Tourism Association (ETOA).

During the three-day event, This is Athens CVB met with over 200 Indian tourism professionals to discuss the city’s infrastructure and advantages as a competitive tourist destination in addition to being an ideal choice for film productions and weddings.

Athens-CVB, together with ETOA, received a distinction for its successful first-time participation in the OTM 2024 trade show.

This is Athens collaborated with the Nijhawan Group to target its networking actions during the show.

This is Athens’ participation in OTM comes two months after it organized a fam trip in the Greek capital for 15 Indian tour agents and journalists in collaboration with Athens International Airport.

Tapping into the vast Indian market is a top priority for the Greek government, particularly following a historic meeting last summer between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Athens. Mitsotakis and Modi stressed the importance of introducing direct flights and increasing tourist flows between the two countries.

The Greek Travel Page (GTP) was media sponsor of OTM 2024.
