AIA - Sustainability Yannis Moralis Art Exhibition Gives ‘A Tour of Athens’ at the Airport by GTP editing team 19 February 2024 written by GTP editing team 19 February 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 28 Visitors and passengers at Athens International Airport (AIA) have the opportunity to take “A Tour of Athens” through the new exhibition by Greek artist Yannis Moralis that opened at the airport’s “Art & Culture” space. The “Yannis Moralis. A Tour of Athens” exhibition aims to connect the airport, which is the first gateway to the city of Athens and Greece in general, with the wider work of the artist. In order to achieve this, a larger version of a ceramic wall composition that the painter had created for the new Athens City Hall on Liosion Street was placed in the exhibition area. The composition displays an imagined, timeless view of the city. Through the use of graphic separation, the installation creates a three-dimensional environment that invites viewers to explore and brings Moralis’ sketch to life by visually separating the main performance from its shadows and the blue sky and sea. The “Yannis Moralis. A Tour of Athens” exhibition is also an opportunity for the world to get to know the leading Greek painter, printmaker, set designer and professor, who highly influenced the country’s visual arts. Yannis Moralis, through his work, articulated a contemporary version of “Greekness” and incorporated elements of ancient and modern Greek culture alongside the influences of European modernism. The Yannis Moralis Laboratory is a non-profit organization, established in 2019, based in Yannis Moralis’ studio in Athens. The organization aims to study, promote and protect the artistic work of Yannis Moralis. The “Yannis Moralis. A Tour of Athens” is located in the exhibition space “Art & Culture”, Arrivals Level, (Entrance 1) of Athens Airport. The exhibition will run until July 31 and offers free public access.
