The Greek island of Paros is gaining worldwide exposure as the backdrop of the popular “One Day” series currently streaming on Netflix.

Filming took place on the island in September 2022 at Santa Maria beach and other locations of the island in the fourth episode of the series.

One Day is a 2024 British dramatic romance television series based on the 2009 novel of the same name by David Nicholls as well as the 2011 film adaptation that starred Anne Hathaway.

The series chronicles the romantic journey of the lead characters, Dex and Em, over several decades as they reunite annually on the same day.

According to tourism consulting firm MTC Group, numerous media outlets including Conde Nast Traveler, Cosmopolitan, National World, Rolling Stone, Independent and more are highlighting the series’ filming locations, including Paros, ensuring significant exposure for the Cycladic Island.

MTC Group, which offers advisory services to the Municipality of Paros, released data that shows the choice of a filming location for movies or series generates significant financial benefits for local communities and also boosts the destination’s promotion.

A study by TCI Research found the same, according to which approximately 80 million travelers now choose their holiday destination based on movies and TV series.
