Scheduled to take place during March 19-21, under the auspices of the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the WPL Athens Summit 2024 will focus on “Democracy for the 21st Century”. WPL is a global network of women politicians with a mission to increase both the number and influence of women in political leadership positions. The aim of the WPL Athens Summit 2024, which will bring together more than 200 delegates, will be to exchange views on women’s empowerment and the strategies needed on the road to equality. The summit, which will include a number of insightful panels and speeches, will be co-hosted by the Greek ministries of Tourism and Social Cohesion and Family Affairs. Social Cohesion and Family Affairs Minister Sofia Zacharaki and Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni. “Greece is leading the way with the initiative to host this summit, as it gives a platform to women leaders of the world and promotes equality in politics and, by extension, in all sectors,” Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said. During the summit, women politicians, who have fought for the elimination of stereotypes and discrimination in politics, will be honored, including Greece’s President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou. “Together with great women leaders in politics worldwide, we will send a strong message from Athens: equal participation everywhere,” said Sofia Zacharaki, Minister of Social Cohesion and Family of Greece. The WPL Athens Summit 2024 will take place at the NJV Athens Plaza Hotel The conference languages will be English, French, Spanish and Arabic. Sessions of the summit will also take place at the Acropolis Museum and in the Hellenic Parliament.
