More specifically, according to AEGEAN’s Chief Commercial Officer Roland Jaggi, “demand from the German market, but also from German-speaking countries Switzerland and Austria is already at very good levels,” a “reliable indicator“, he said, of what to expect. “We are ready for a dynamic summer season boosting our routes to and from major European cities such as Frankfurt, Larnaca, Rome, Zurich, Geneva, Paris, Berlin and with a new fourth daily route to London-Heathrow but also our new destination, Dubai,” he said. AEGEAN currently operates out of Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Hamburg, Munich, Nuremberg, and Stuttgart with scheduled direct flights to/from Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion and Kalamata, operating over 12,000 flights a year. The company is also aiming to introduce charter flights this year from Friedrichshafen, Erfurt, Bremen, and Memmingen to Heraklion, and from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Friedrichshafen to Rhodes. Germany is a priority market for AEGEAN, serving more than 20 million passengers since 2001. The company runs direct daily flights from Athens all year round to/from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, and Stuttgart, and seasonal flights to Hannover, Nuremberg, and Cologne. AEGEAN connects Thessaloniki with daily or weekly flights to Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Hamburg, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart, while flights to and from Frankfurt will increase as of March 31 to two daily. According to the airline, it plans to increase seats from Germany for Athens by 8 percent and for Thessaloniki by 11 percent. According to initial estimates, demand for the 2024 summer season is close to last year’s levels for the period with a higher percentage of available seats to Germany.
