Airbnb Says Millennials Driving Spring Travel Demand in Greece

Millennials in Greece are driving travel demand this spring seeking lesser-known destinations and adventure escapes, found data released this week by short-term rentals giant Airbnb.

More specifically, according to the report, millennials in Greece are traveling more with the number of overnight stays booked this spring up by 28 percent compared to the same period a year ago.

The majority of users are booking rooms. At the same time, family travel is also on the rise with bookings up by 12 percent over last year.

Favorite destinations abroad for Greek travelers this spring are Istanbul, Dubai, Frankfurt, Rome, Berlin, Warsaw, Madrid, Sofia, Milan, and Venice.

Airbnb data also reveals a 33 percent rise in searches for spring holidays in Greece and a 41 percent increase in couples travel.

According to Airbnb data, top destinations in Greece for Greek travelers this spring are: Rethymno (Crete), KarpenisiIoannina, Kastoria, Kalavryta, Trikala, Karditsa, Arachova, and Volos.

“Domestic destinations continue to be among the favorites for Greeks,” the report notes.
