The business environment in Greece is among the top three fastest-improving, according to the latest report released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

More specifically, Greece, Argentina, and India were the three fastest-improving business environments among 82 countries in the EIU’s Business Environment Rankings.

“Greece has witnessed the most significant improvement, showing the country’s pro-business government, which has implemented reforms, cut taxes, and [offered] initiatives to enhance business confidence,” said the report which measures the attractiveness of the business environment in 82 countries and territories, examining 91 indicators spread across 11 different categories.

Referring to the best business environments over the next five years, EIU analysts say these improvements may result in an uptick in real GDP per capita growth, investment spending, and foreign direct investment (FDI).

Greece’s most improving category was financing.

Greece is first among countries improving their business environments faster according to the Economist Intelligence Unit. The positive course of the Greek economy and the support of entrepreneurship are strengthening the confidence and interest in investments and growth,” said Greek Deputy Finance Minister Harry Theoharis commenting on the news.

According to the index, the Top 10 countries with the best business environment scores were Singapore, Denmark, the US, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Finland.

“Knowing in advance where economic growth is about to accelerate can make all the difference between investor success and failure. It is critical to understand how the world is changing,” said Prianthi Roy, country forecast manager, Europe analyst, EIU.
