Discover Airlines, Lufthansa Group’s leisure airline (formerly known as Eurowings Discover), recently announced an expansion to its portfolio in Greece with the addition of flights to the Greek island of Kefalonia from Munich, Germany. The Munich-Kefalonia route was announced as part of the carrier’s summer flight schedule to 23 leisure destinations from Munich Airport (MUC). “Brand new in the Lufthansa Group’s portfolio: the island of Kefalonia, which, with its versatility, is an insider tip for beach and hiking holidays,” the airline’s management said in the announcement. According to Discover’s website, flights to Kefalonia will begin in May. Kefalonia is an addition to a number of destinations in Greece the airline will fly to this summer. Greece’s fans can look forward to the largest number of choices, with a variety of Greek destinations and around 30 weekly flights. Discover’s other destinations in Greece include Heraklion, Chania, Kalamata, Kos, Corfu, Mykonos, Rhodes, Samos, Santorini, Skiathos, and Zakynthos. Flights will be operated by five Airbus A320s from a fleet of 24 aircraft. A total of 23 different leisure destinations and almost 70 weekly departures are on the flight schedule of the airline, which operated exclusively on behalf of Lufthansa at the Munich hub last year. “We are looking forward to taking off from Munich again this summer and expanding our presence at this important hub. This complements the Lufthansa Group’s offering in Munich and gives travelers even more choice, including to holiday destinations that were previously not served by direct flights,” said Discover Airlines CEO Bernd Bauer. Photo source: Discover Airlines From the Canary Islands to numerous Mediterranean destinations and Bodrum in Türkiye, the leisure airline’s flight schedule guarantees plenty of sunshine. All the well-known holiday classics are included in the program, with frequent flights to Ibiza and Mallorca in Spain, Varna in Bulgaria, and Marrakesh in Morocco. In late summer, Hurghada in Egypt and Funchal on the island of Madeira will also be added to the portfolio.
