Greek airline SKY express has received three notable distinctions from Athens International Airport (AIA) for its performance last year on scheduled flights to and from the Greek capital. AIA recently honored airlines for their significant growth rates and highest increases in passenger volumes in 2023 during an award ceremony held within the framework of its 23rd marketing workshop held in Athens. SKY express, an established airline that generates value for AIA, was highly commended: – as the fastest growing airline in the domestic market; – as the fastest growing airline in the Western Europe market; and – for recording the highest passenger traffic volume rates at Athens International Airport in 2023. “These new distinctions motivate us to continue to fly higher every day, faithful to the principles, values and vision of SKY express, the airline of the future,” SKY express General Manager George Lioumpis said. SKY express strengthened its presence in Europe last year and saw the number of its passengers quadruple, reaching almost 4.5 million, with its market share increasing by 12.5 percent. Focus on sustainability The airline is highly focused on sustainable practices, offering innovative products and services tailored to the needs of passengers. “All of us at SKY express work passionately to create new products and services that combine sustainability, comfort and the most refined experience that every traveler seeks,” SKY express Revenue Products Manager Eleanna Michalakopoulou said during AIA’s award ceremony. Aiming to take the travel experience to the next level, SKY express last summer launched its first business class product. Named “Bliss”, the business class was designed to meet sustainability criteria to offer passengers priority at every stage of the journey. The airline’s business class includes access to VIP lounges, free extra luggage, entertainment, deli menu and a pre-order service. “We are proud because we have managed to make the journey with SKY express a complete premium experience… You can travel the way you want with SKY express, that’s the message we’re sending,” she added. SKY express’ Alexandros Michalopoulos (Key Accounts Project Management), Eleanna Michalakopoulou (Revenue Products Manager) and George Lioumpis (General Manager) holding the airline’s three awards. The awards received from AIA add to SKY express’ recent honors from the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) for its outstanding achievements in airline excellence and innovation. The airline last October was honored with two prestigious awards from ERA for 2023: the Airline Excellence Award and the Innovation Airline Award. SKY express has the largest network of domestic destinations (33) and services an expanding network of 11 European destinations through scheduled flights with its fleet of modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. The airline’s fleet this year will amount to 27 aircraft.
