Greek Airports See Passenger Traffic Rise by 15.7% in February to Over 2.4 Million

Greek airports in February saw the positive trend of the beginning of the year continue and experienced another increase in passenger traffic.

According to data released by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority – HCAA / Hellenic Aviation Service Provider-ΗASP, passenger traffic in February grew by 15.7 percent year-on-year to reach 2,405,625, compared to 2,079,567 passengers in February 2023.

Moreover, passenger traffic during the first two months of the year rose by 12.2 percent to 4,812,426 passengers, compared to 4,289,160 during January-February 2023.

In terms of flights (arrivals and departures of domestic and international aircraft), the data showed that February saw 22,005 flights, up by 11.6 percent compared to 2023 (19,709 flights).

During the first two months of 2024, 44,769 flights were carried out, compared to 42,037 flights in the first two months of 2023, recording an increase of 6.5 percent.

Greece’s airports include include Athens International Airport (AIA), the 24 regional airports managed by the HCAA and the 14 regional airports run by Fraport Greece.

Performance of Athens Airport, 14 regional airports

During February 2024, passenger traffic at Athens International Airport (AIA) amounted to 1.6 million, i.e. 18.4 percent above February 2023.

Overall, during the first two months of 2024, the airport’s passenger traffic totaled 3.2 million, above the 2023 levels by 14.4 percent.

Greece’s 14 regional airports under Fraport management in February welcomed 636,866 passengers, representing a rise of 13.9 percent compared to the same month a year ago.

Total passenger traffic at the 14 regional airports during the first two months of the year reached 1.27 million against 1.15 million in 2023, representing an increase of 10.6 percent.
