Commuters passing through transport stations in Paris, London and Berlin will soon have the opportunity to see the unique beauty of Skiathos and the island’s attractions through a new advertising campaign to launch soon by the Municipality of Skiathos.

Aiming to attract visitors for the upcoming summer season, the municipality will once again promote the Greek island through wall posters in stations of the metro of Paris and the underground of London. Posters of Skiathos will also be advertised on tram cars in Berlin.

“The main goal is the consistent promotion of the destination and its strong presence through modern means,” Skiathos Mayor Thodoris Tzoumas said on social media.

“This promotional activity is particularly important as Skiathos is a traditional favorite destination for British citizens and will boost visitor flows to the island,” Mayor Tzoumas said.

Last year, the British newspaper The Times included Skiathos in its list of “15 Best Greek Islands to Visit in 2024″, praising the island for its must-visit beaches.

In Paris, the promotion of the island will run for the third year in a row at eight metro stations – Charles de Gaulle-Étoile, Gare d Austerlitz Ligne, Gare du Nord, Havre Caumartin, Montparnasse, Palais Royal, Republique, Saint Lazare – with a total of 27 platform posters.

According to the municipality, the advertising campaign aims to attract as many visitors as possible from Paris considering the direct flights running between Skiathos and the French city since 2022.

Berlin: Skiathos on the tram

The Municipality of Skiathos has added Berlin to its list of target markets this year and will run its advertising campaign on the German city’s tram cars.

“Another European city, Berlin, will be added this year to Skiathos’ dynamic promotional campaign… Skiathos will be shown on the Berlin tram, which is the city’s main and most popular means of transport, to promote the destination to the German public,” the mayor said.

Earlier this year, the Municipality of Skiathos announced the upgrade of the island’s footpath network, aiming to showcase and preserve its natural and cultural heritage.
