Surveys, Trends & Stats Report: Greece Among Countries with Best Beach Destinations for Solo Travelers by GTP editing team 3 April 2024 written by GTP editing team 3 April 2024 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 16 Beach on Corfu, Greece. Greece was named the fourth best beach destination in the world for those traveling solo, according to a report released recently by Hungarian airline Wizz Air. The low-cost airline’s report unveiled a list of destinations around Europe where solo travelers will enjoy summer excursions to the beach. To create the guide, Wizz Air took into account a number of factors, such as the country’s coastline, the weather conditions, safety and crime statistics, and the number of single individuals within the population. Commenting on the list, Wizz Air Head of Communications Tamara Vallois said the list combines the “already popular summer destinations” such as Italy, Spain and Greece (all in the top 10) with some countries that have not so well known beaches. According to the report, beautiful beaches can be found along Greece’s 13,676 km of coastline, both on the country’s islands and mainland. Ranking fourth on the list, Greece has been tagged 103 times on Instagram with hashtags related to solo travel and receives an average of only 65.2cm of rainfall per year. Finland topped the list with 314,000 km of coastline, offering a variety of beaches to explore, with Yyteri being the most famous of all. Norway followed in second place and the UK in third. Albania, Poland, Lithuania, and the Netherlands also feature in the top 20 with “some real hidden gems” along the coast for travelers to discover. “Whether you want to find a little bit of peace or an adventure, we’re sure there will be something on our list to tempt you,” Vallois said. Wizz Air earlier this year, named the Greek island of Rhodes as the best city for solo travelers in 2024 for the second consecutive year.
