Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni on Saturday inaugurated the 101-room Mitsis N’U Piraeus Port, a new four-star hotel on the port of Piraeus near Gate E7, and the metro and train stations, and five minutes from the port’s cruise terminals. “The new generation of Greek hoteliers is contributing with its efforts to the upgrade of the tourist product, the promotion of the identity of our destinations, and is at the forefront of investment activity in Greece,” said Kefalogianni during the event in Piraeus. Describing Mitsis Group’s latest addition as a “point of reference for the tourism of Piraeus and Attica,” Kefalogianni said the new hotel was putting into practice key tourism ministry priorities. The hotel, located on the property of the former Metaxa factory, implemented sustainable actions, said Kefalogianni, by reusing building stock and implementing environmentally friendly practices, ensuring energy efficiency and resource savings. She went on to add that it has created dozens of new jobs in addition to stimulating the construction industry and related activities during its construction stage. Additionally, the new Mitsis hotel will operate all year round helping extend the tourist season and attract visitors to Attica, she said. The minister also referred to hotel efforts to promote Greek gastronomy, winemaking and brewing, as well as the utilization of local products and lastly, that it connects tourism with Greek culture, as works by Greek artists feature throughout the hotel.
