Thessaloniki-based TIF-Helexpo announced actions to enhance its ties with the South American market and more specifically with the Andean states with plans to name these ‘Honored Region’ in one of the upcoming Thessaloniki International fairs. TIF-Helexpo is the organizer of the country’s largest international exhibition event held every year in Thessaloniki, traditionally in the first week of September since 1926. The news came after a visit by TIF-Helexpo President Tasos Tzikas to Peru, where he met with representatives from the Andean States Community which includes Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina, with whom he discussed cooperation in trade. Tzikas also met with Secretary General of the Andean Community Gonzalo Gutierrez. TIF-Helexpo also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Adex Export Association and its president, Julio Pérez Alván. The two sides agreed to exchange economic and business knowhow and information, work together for participation in local or international exhibitions organized by both sides, and organize joint initiatives to strengthen economic, commercial and investment relations between Greece and Peru. Indicatively, in 2023, trade activity between Greece and Peru was valued at 41.3 million dollars. “We are aiming for TIF-Helexpo – through the MoU and the proposal submitted for the ‘Honored Region’ – to serve as a ‘bridge’ that will enable us to tap into the great potential of a virgin market for Greece in which many Greek communities are active in business,” said Tzikas.
