Amazon Prime Video, an American subscription video on-demand streaming and rental service, has selected to film its new six-episode series “Malice” on Paros, the Greek island’s municipality said on Monday. This will be the second time Paros will gain global attention after being the filming location in “One Day” by Netflix in 2022. “Malice”, a British psychological thriller series, will star David Duchovny, Jack Whitehall and Carice van Houten. Filming locations on the island will include the areas of Naoussa, Parikia, Kolymbithres, Agios Fokas, Alyki, Kostou Square, Agia Irini beach, Agios Antonios Monastery in Marpissa Alipranti Shipyards in Monastiri. The series will be produced by Faliro House through its subsidiary FA.NA Productions. The company’s portfolio includes the production of movies such as “The Lobster” by George Lanthimos, “Before Midnight” by Richard Linklater, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” by Nia Vardalos, and “The Rise” by Akin Omotoso. The 250-member film crew for “Malice” will stay on the island for over two months. Naoussa, Paros. According to tourism consulting firm MTC Group, which offers advisory services to the Municipality of Paros, film tourism is important for the promotion of Paros as a destination to the world and to the island’s local economy. A recent Expedia study, conducted on behalf of Tendance Hotellerie, said that documentaries, films and TV series are now the second most popular source of inspiration for a trip (20 percent), surpassing social media networks (13 percent), and recommendations from friends or family (42 percent). The same was found by a TCI Research study, according to which some 80 million travelers now choose their holiday destination based on movies and TV shows. “Malice” is produced with the contribution of the Municipality of Paros, the support of EKOME (National Centre for Audiovisual Media and Communication), an organization supervised by the Ministry of Digital Governance, as well as the Culture Ministry through the Hellenic Film Commission of the Greek Film Center.
