According to a joint announcement by the airlines, this investment reflects both airlines’ commitment to offering the best experience to passengers connecting by rail to their respective hubs, Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport and Amsterdam Schiphol airport. With the Air&Rail offer, customers have one single booking for their entire journey and a guaranteed seat on the next available flight or train if their flight or train is delayed. Dedicated teams assist customers at stations. “We remain fully committed to ensuring a smooth customer journey, making the train an ever-better alternative to air on short-haul routes in Europe,” said KLM CEO Marjan Rintel. He added that the two airlines continue to invest in their Air & Rail offer between Belgium, France and the Netherlands, having offered over 4.5 million seats on 93,000 high-speed trains since the introduction of the service in March 2001. Members of Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France and KLM, enjoy benefits such as accumulation of Miles; priority access to check-in counters thanks to the SkyPriority service; access to the Eurostar Lounge at Brussels-Midi/Zuid train station; additional baggage allowance; and free access to seat options on board their flight. Air France customers connecting to Paris-Charles de Gaulle also benefit from the check-in of their baggage from Brussels-Midi/Zuid train station to their destination. KLM customers benefit from SkyPriority at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, giving them priority at check-in, boarding, and baggage handling, as well as priority lanes at security and immigration. Since 2022, KLM customers transferring to Amsterdam Airport can check in online 30 hours before departure for their entire journey, including train travel on Eurostar, with a last check-in time of up to 30 minutes before departure. Additionally, Air France customers travel in 1st class on board TGV inOUI, France’s intercity high-speed rail service, while Business Class KLM passengers travel in Premium on Eurostar trains. This summer, a 7th daily high-speed connection will be added between the Brussels-Midi/Zuid train station and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. Combined Air&Rail tickets can be purchased on the websites of the airlines, the ticketing desk in the Brussels-Midi/Zuid train station, or at any travel agency.
